Phosphatidylserine affects the metabolism of acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters. Also, sufficient amounts of this phospholipid are necessary for the integration of secretory granules containing neurotransmitters with the presynaptic membrane and subsequently the release of neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft and proper postsynaptic neurotransmitter receptor interactions.
